The biggest revolution in video since TV is happening right now. STORIES

Social, global, mobile are the three biggest changes with regard to digital media and how consumers communicate. And the format of stories is a ground breaking approach to empower and to get one2one insight. An approach which is extremely relevant for aviation and travel as well. We are honoured that Yusuf Omar and Sumaiya Omar form Hashtag Our Stories will hold the keynote speech at our next think future event, Hamburg Aviation Conference 2018.

Get some insight upfront from Yusuf Omar at the INMA International News Media Association Congress in New York 2017. INMA is the signature global conference for news media executives seeking to get smarter about growth strategies in a fast-changing market and benchmark against the world's best. This is an approach which we strive for with our annual think tank, the Hamburg Aviation Conference as well.

Singapore Airlines has embarked upon a transformation strategy

More than 60 projects cutting across various aspects of the business are underway, including a review of its network across the group, tapping on data to optimise fuel costs, setting up a new customer service experience division and rolling out a new digital training curriculum for its employees.

Decision processes are under scrutiny to ensure more dynamism in a fast changing environment. Layers have been taken out of the approval processes already.

Key focus areas for change are digitalisation and creation of additional revenue opportunities and optimisation of the customer experience as well as efficiency.

Blockchain enabling the future of travel

Will blockchain break down the last barriers to innovation and enable the future of travel? Great news is that airlines and airports have started to pay attention and to explore opportunities with blockchain. Air New Zealand has just announced a partnership with Winding Tree to explore the technology for improvements in various areas of the value chain. Blockchain benefits companies and customers by cutting out the middlemend, thus reducing cost and creating a more seamless customer experience.

Online retailers conquering the offline world

Online retailers keep advancing in the offline world to gain additional market share and new customers, with Alibaba's latest acquisition in Sun Art being just one example. Aviation stakeholders need to rethink their future position in terms of where they want to go, and what this could mean for them in terms of threats and opportunities. They cannot once again all follow Ryanair, which has defined the vision of "Amazon of Travel".
