Daniel Burkard has extensive experience both in the airline and airport business, including 11 years with British Airways. He had been appointed director for aviation business development at Eastern Europe’s largest airport as from autumn 2005. He has been appointed director external- and international relations in 2011 and deputy airport director in 2012, since 2014 he is also in charge of developing non-aeronautical incomes for the airport from both the terminal as well as a new Aerotropolis, growing around Domodedovo Moscow Airport. 
Since 2012 Daniel is a member of the board of Airport Council International (ACI) Europe and as from 2016 he serves also as a member of the world governing board of ACI.

Since 2012 Daniel is a member of the board of Airport Council International (ACI) Europe and as from 2016 he serves also as a member of the world governing board of ACI. 

In his eleven years in the airline he worked in alliances, started up BA’s operations and sales in the Baltic States and was as key account manager for financial institutions and travel agency chains in charge of a big part of the airline’s business in Germany. In 1997 British Airways put him in charge of their business in Ukraine and in 1999 Daniel was promoted to a job based in Moscow, that saw him look after the airline’s activities across Eastern Europe.

In 2005 Daniel moved to the East Line group, becoming the first and only western foreigner in the top management team, founding the „Domodedovo Airport Development Company“, which he remained responsible for until late 2006 whilst in parallel working as director for aviation business development at Eastern Europe’s largest airport as from autumn 2005. Between 2002 and 2005 Daniel Burkard was elected for three consecutive terms as chairman of the Airline Committee in the Russian Federation.

Since 2012 he is a member of the board of Airport Council International (ACI) Europe and as from 2016 he serves also as a member of the world governing board of ACI.

Daniel Burkard studied business management and history in Munich, graduated from the Bavarian Academy for Advertising & Marketing and completed post-graduate management studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He has been guest lecturing at various universities in England and Russia. Daniel is a fully trained volunteer fire fighter and paramedic, he lives south of Moscow.

Daniel Burkard, born in 1967 in Munich, worked in both airport and airline business as well as in advertising before joining British Airways in 1994.
